$325,000 upgrade for Cowra Showground
Minister for Lands and Forestry Paul Toole and Nationals candidate for the seat of Cootamundra Steph Cooke today announced a $324,925 investment to upgrade Cowra Showground.
Mr Toole said the grant from the NSW Government’s Public Reserves Management Fund program will be used to improve facilities and infrastructure on the site.
“The showground pavilion will receive much-needed upgrades to roofing and electrical wiring. A new fixed and electrical window system will also be installed to improve energy efficiency and sound absorbing panels will improve the acoustics of the building,” Mr Toole said.
“State-owned public reserves play an important role in regional communities and the NSW Government is committed to supporting well-maintained, vibrant and sustainable showgrounds.”
Ms Cooke said the funding will ensure the Cowra Showground continues to provide social and economic benefits to the local community.
“This magnificent pavilion is one of the largest in the region, with a fully equipped kitchen and cool room, disabled and public toilets, and a mother and baby room,” Ms Cooke said.
“A number of community groups take advantage of the showground facilities including the Cowra Show Society, Cowra Shire Council, Cowra Rugby Club, Cowra Music and Dramatic Society, the local CWA and Church groups.”
In 2017-2018 the NSW Government will provide around $12 million to Reserve managers across the state, including $2.5 million for showground trusts.
