Second Stage of NSW Government's $10m redevelopment opens at TAFE NSW Young

Delivery of vocational education and training in Young is being transformed with Stage Two of the NSW Government’s $10 million redevelopment of TAFE NSW Young officially opened today.

Attending the campus for the opening the Minister responsible for TAFE Adam Marshall said the new state of the art facility would cement TAFE NSW as the leading vocational education and training provider in the region for decades to come.

“The NSW Government’s $10 million investment in the Young campus is a testament to our commitment to TAFE NSW in this region,” Mr Marshall said.

“The upgraded TAFE NSW facilities here in Young will benefit not only the local community but the wider region, helping more people get the skills they need to get tomorrow’s jobs.

“Stage Two of the redevelopment comprises of a refurbishment of the electrotechnology trade area, new common learning areas designed to support the increased use of technology and a new, modern service area.

“These brand new facilities, coupled with the already operational upgrades from Stage One of the redevelopment mean TAFE NSW will remain the premier educational institution in Young and across the region for years to come.

“This is a fantastic time for vocational education and training in the region. We are getting on with the job of modernising TAFE NSW and ensuring we can continue to meet the region’s skills needs.”

The redeveloped Young Campus now provides state of the art training facilities in key educational areas such as health and aged care, early childhood education, beauty therapy, electrotechnology and business management.

The facilities include a simulated hospital for health and aged care, an early childhood education centre with indoor and outdoor learning spaces, a state-of-the-art hairdressing and beauty therapy salon and electrotechnology trade facilities.

The redevelopment works are now concluding with some external works and a new disability access point being finalised while students are off-campus during mid-semester holidays.
